Some ways to prevent the spread of diarrhoea or protect yourself from getting diarrhoea include:
Proper handwashing
Wash hands well with soap and water before and after eating, after handling raw meat, after using the toilet, changing diapers, coughing, sneezing, and blowing your nose. When handwashing is not possible, use an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
Vaccination
Infants can be protected from rotavirus via vaccination.
Proper food storage
Storing food properly and observing food safety measures can help prevent diarrhoea.
Watching what you eat and drink during travel
Eat well-cooked food and avoid raw or undercooked meats; drink bottled water or beverages served in their original containers and avoid tap water and ice cubes.
